Virginia Hollis Brownlee Corley died November 12, 2019 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Virginia was born January 2, 1920 in Laurens County, SC. She was the daughter of K.B. and Kathryn Hollis Brownlee. Her siblings were Rachel B. Holcombe, K.B. "Buck" Brownlee, Jr., Emily B. Sanford, and Sarah B. Fulmer.
Early years were spent in the Warrior Creek community, Laurens County. Her mother, Kathryn, saw that the children from early childhood were told of salvation by faith and became members of the Baptist Church.
In the early 1940's, Virginia, with two friends, moved to Saluda for employment. She then met a special young man, Paul William Corley. They were married in 1941 and he remained the love of her life. Paul died in 1996. Their children were Catherine Paulette Corley in 1944, Virginia Elizabeth Corley in July 1947 (she lived only seven days), and Paul William "Buddy" Corley, Jr. in 1953.
As the years passed and her health declined, she resided at Saluda Nursing Center. There she received quality care and made many friends among the staff and Dr. Bill Sawyer.
Virginia is survived by daughter Paulette Corley Rollins (Charles), son Buddy Corley (Sabra), four grandchildren, Cliff Rollins, Melissa Corley Reigel (Tom), Paul Richard Corley (Faith) and Hannah Elizabeth Corley, and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Rollins, Walker Rollins, Etheredge Rollins and Sterling Corley.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Ben Herlong officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
