Walker Beddoes

Walker Cecil Edgeworth Beddoes passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Saluda, South Carolina. He was born November 2, 1936, in Sumter, South Carolina to Cecil Beddoes and Della Green Beddoes. Walker married his beloved wife, Connie, in 1964, and together they raised two children, Mark and Kyle.

Walker was a 20-year veteran of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Major and receiving the Bronze Star twice for his service in the Vietnam War. Following his military retirement, he went on to serve in the Department of Defense as a civilian, retiring in 1995 as the Chief of Hazardous Property Policy for the Defense Logistics Agency.

Walker was known for his love of music, playing trumpet in school and in jazz bands, as well as singing in the choir at St. Paul United Methodist Church. He believed strongly in community service, holding various leadership positions in the Lions Clubs in Mason Neck, Virginia and Saluda, South Carolina, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for St. Paul United Methodist Church in Saluda. Walker was an avid boater and car enthusiast, able to fix about anything that required a screwdriver, wrench, or decent tap with a hammer. Whatever he got involved in, whether it be a motor or a community, he left it better than he found it.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Connie, his children, Mark and Kyle, and six beloved grandchildren. Walker's legacy of service, mentorship, humility, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A celebration of Walker's life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Saluda. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to the Saluda Lion's Club c/o Carey Bedenbaugh, 9583 Spann Road, Leesville, SC 29070 or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 102 East Butler Avenue, Saluda, SC 29138.
