Wallace Whitten, 65, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Providence Hospital.
Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Ernest "Tater" Whitten and Zenorma Rowe Jackson, he was the husband of the late Ellen Marlene Rowe Whitten. Mr. Whitten was a retired foreman with the South Carolina Department of Transportation after forty years and was a volunteer for twenty-five years with the Saluda County Ambulance Service. He was a member of Saluda Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Mahleeta Seibert (Spanky) of Prosperity, a son, Justin Wallace Whitten of Saluda, six brothers, Donald Rowe of Columbia, Johnny Jackson and Wayne Whitten both of Saluda, Ernest Whitten of Savannah, Bo Whitten of Batesburg and Earl Harvey of Union, six sisters, Lois Johnson of Whitmire, Ernestine McKinney and Sallie Kinard both of Saluda, Pearl Whitten of Savannah, Lucy Langford of Cross Hill and Barbara Rowe Fain of Ninety Six, a grandson, Matthew Allen Seibert and lifelong friends Bob and Ann Bowles..
Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by a brother, Buster Harvey and a sister, Louise Turner.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Sunday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016 at Saluda Church of God with Rev. Derrick Jones and Rev. Charles Houston officiating. Interment will follow in West Travis Park Cemetery.
