William D. "Bill" Herren was welcome into the loving arms of Jesus Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
William "Bill" was born February 26, 1931 in Rena Lara, Mississippi.
Sergeant First Class William D. Herren served in combat in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, with twenty-two years of Military service and was awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam.
Bill also drove an 18-wheeler for John Mansfield Trucking Company. He worked for Mississippi Department of Transportation for several years. He was always working. He retired and moved to South Carolina to help his brother-in-law and friend, F.J. Usry with farming operations. He lived a full life and his greatest pleasure was his family. Bill attended Pine Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was past master of the Mason Lodge No. 25 A.F.M. in Kirksey, SC and of McLeod Lodge 424 F & AM in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Herren, a daughter, Sharon Elaine Boswell, a sister, Doris Evelyn Stiles and five brothers, Charlie, Gene, Jerry Wayne, Arthur and Mike Herren.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy "Dot" Herren, a son, Steven Greene "Bo" Herren of Troy, SC, four daughters, Tonya Politi of Troy, SC, Jackie LaCour (Norman) of Mississippi, Maudie Walden (J.C.) of Georgia and Mary Gladney (Ray) of Mississippi, two brothers, James Herren (Martha) and John Lee Herren (Gale) both of Mississippi, a sister, Becky Herrington of Mississippi and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Pine Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Barry Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
