William Lamar Johnson

William Lamar Johnson, 68, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood, SC and a son of Mildred Ann Faulkner Johnson and the late Charles Rush Johnson, he was the husband of Stephanie Lynn Capes Johnson. He was a retired truck driver with Brown Trucking, where he dedicated many years of hard work and service. He furthered his education by attending Piedmont Technical College.

A man who found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life, Mr. Lamar loved spending time outdoors. Whether he was fishing on a quiet afternoon, raising beef cattle, or tending to his hay fields, he was happiest when he was on the farm. Farming was more than a pastime; it was a way of life that brought him peace and fulfillment.

Mr. Lamar also enjoyed a friendly game of checkers and treasured the conversations he shared with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He valued family deeply and looked forward to every phone call and visit, always taking an interest in the lives of those he loved. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and the genuine happiness he found in the people and places that meant the most to him.

Surviving alongside his wife are two children, Jennifer Kay Perkins (Ross) and Rebecca Anne Robin Johnson both of Austin, TX; a sister, Barbara Padget (Richard); a brother, Charles Marshall Johnson (Julia) both of Lexington, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Lamar was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rush Johnson; a sister, Susan Johnson Ouzts; and a brother, Russell Franklin Johnson.

The family will hold a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Keller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 1507 Kirksey Pittsburgh Road Troy, SC 29848.
